Rockville is equipped with many modern-day amenities. The city is home to a large collection of parks including the Cabin John Regional Park, Meadowside Nature Center and Rock Creek Regional Park. Golfers can enjoy full days swinging away at the 18-hole championship Red Gate Golf Course, which has been ranked one of the D.C. area’s ten best by Washington Golf Magazine. Senior citizens may find appealing activities provided by the local senior center. A swim center with plenty of pools is also open to the public. Younger generations may find haven in Rockville’s own skate park. For other adventurous types, a rock climbing gym is located within the boundaries of this wonderfully equipped community.

There are plenty of cultural and historic attractions in Rockville as well. The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Glenview Mansion are located in Rockville’s Civic Center Park. The theatre hosts productions by the National Chamber Orchestra, Rockville Little Theatre, Concert Band, Regional Youth Orchestra and Victoria Lyric Opera Company. Glenview Mansion is a pillared, neoclassical, 19th-century home that showcases the Mansion Art Gallery of Rockville.

Rockville’s educational capacity overshadows that of all other communities within the state of Maryland. The Montgomery County Public School District serves over 136,000 students. This school district is outfitted with more than nine primary and middle schools and five high schools.

Rockville’s historical and architectural value has not been forgotten and is well preserved in locations such as the West Montgomery Avenue historic district, the B&O Railroad Station, Old St. Mary’s Church and cemetery, Wire Hardware Company, the Dawson Farm and the Bingham-Brewer House. All of these locations are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
